SBU tells about another maritime drone for the first time
The Security Service of Ukraine conducts successful special operations at sea not only thanks to Sea Baby but also using another surface drone, Mamai. This was reported to NV by the SBU press service on Sunday, December 24.
Currently, Mamai is the fastest object in the Black Sea, the drone can accelerate up to 110 km/h, the SBU said.
The service notes that surface drones have actually changed the philosophy of naval operations. SBU Head Vasyl Malyuk recalled that Sea Baby successfully attacked the Crimean Bridge and other enemy targets. He called the UAV an effective "multi-purpose platform."
In October 2022, SBU maritime drones attacked enemy ships in Sevastopol Bay, damaging, among other things, the Admiral Makarov frigate.
In 2023, SBU drones hit the Samum and Pavel Derzhavin missile carriers, the SIG tanker, the Olenegorskiy Gornyak landing ship, and damaged the Nikolay Moore military tugboat and the newest reconnaissance and hydrographic ship, the Vladimir Kozitsky.
