The European Union has decided to introduce a thematic sanctions regime dedicated to hybrid threats from Russia.
Radio Liberty's Europe editor Rikard Jozwiak wrote about this on Twitter/
According to the journalist, on October 2, EU ambassadors will agree on a new thematic sanctions regime focused on Russian hybrid threats. It will be formalized next week.
“There are no names yet, but they will be added in the future,” the journalist said.
He also said that they initially wanted to introduce a general sanctions regime, but eventually agreed that it would focus on Russian threats.
As you know, the EU has imposed a large number of sanctions on Russia in response to its invasion of Ukraine. These sanctions cover a variety of areas and are aimed at putting economic pressure on Russia and forcing it to stop its military actions.
