On Monday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will meet with French President Emmanuel Macron. The parties will discuss support for Ukraine.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Reuters.
According to the agency, a few days after Donald Trump's election for a second term as US president, Starmer will travel to France to talk with Macron. The leaders will discuss ways to help Ukraine, the continuation of the Russian invasion, and the dire humanitarian situation in Gaza.
Reuters recalls that Trump criticized the level of US support for Ukraine's fight against Russia starting in 2022 and promised to end the conflict without explaining how to do so.
In turn, Britain and France said that it is crucial to continue supporting Ukraine in its fight against Russia in order to protect the European continent as a whole.
Next year, the UK and the EU are expected to begin negotiations on a post-Brexit security pact. It will cover areas such as defense and energy cooperation as they seek to take more responsibility for their own security.
