The United States will send Ukraine more than 500 interceptor missiles. These are missiles for the Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to The Wall Street Journal.
According to a senior U.S. official, the Pentagon is sending more than 500 interceptor missiles to Ukraine for Patriot and NASAMS. The deliveries are expected to take place in the coming weeks.
It is noted that these deliveries should cover the needs of Ukraine's air defense by the end of this year.
Weapons deliveries to Ukraine usually take weeks or even months, and as a US official told the publication, the planned increase in arms deliveries, including air defense systems, is “very concerning.” According to the official, the United States is considering other options to help Ukraine, such as buying weapons from other countries.
The Pentagon also has limited stocks of aviation ammunition for the F-16. The US is supplying Ukraine with advanced AGM-88E guided missiles.
