The German Chancellor said this in the Bundestag during questions to the government

"In my opinion, we should never support a ceasefire aimed at the surrender of Ukraine," Scholz said.

Scholz called Putin's “peace proposal” strange. The Russian president said he would be ready for a ceasefire "if Ukraine agrees to further annexations."

According to the chancellor, this shows "how cynical they are thinking there and that the Russian leader has no intention of stopping his war of aggression." Putin talks about peace talks only to continue the war. "We will not allow this," Scholz assured.

Lotsch also asked whether Chancellor Olaf Scholz gives a “guarantee” that Germany will not become a party to the war. He answered in the affirmative:

"Yes, I give such a guarantee. This is what I stand for as chancellor."
