Democrats prepare letters to ask Biden to withdraw from the election

US President Joe Biden should drop out of the presidential race. This is the opinion of some current and former Democratic Party officials, as well as donors and longtime allies of Biden.

Some officials believe that Biden should announce his decision this week. In particular, Texas Democrat Lloyd Doggett was the first to raise the issue of Biden's withdrawal from the election.

"I represent the heart of the constituency that Lyndon Johnson once represented. Under very different circumstances, he made the painful decision to withdraw. President Biden should do the same," Doggett said in a statement.

In addition, one unnamed Democratic member of the House of Representatives noted that the current US president's associates are concerned about his candidacy in the election.

"There is a large and growing group of House Democrats concerned about the president's candidacy, representing various factions. We are deeply concerned about his trajectory and his ability to win. We want to give him the opportunity to decide to step aside, but we will be increasingly vocal about our concerns if he does not," he said.

Biden is expected to meet soon with Democratic governors and congressional leaders.

Bloomberg, citing sources, notes that Biden is rapidly losing support among his party. And continuing to participate in the presidential race could lead to a loss of control over Congress in favor of the Republicans and strengthen Trump's position.
