Ukraine needs effective aviation to win, as well as combat training that would allow it to be used decisively.

This was stated by retired U.S. Air Force Lieutenant General David Deptula, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Voice of America.

During the meeting of the American generals, a professional report was presented on possible ways to strengthen Ukraine's position in confronting the Russian war.

The report states: "the absolute necessity of air superiority to achieve a decisive victory in the war". In addition, the authors of the report believe that Russia has gained an advantage due to restrictions on Ukraine's use of U.S.-supplied weapons.

General Deptula himself recently visited Ukraine to advise the military leadership on strategy, especially through the prism of aviation.

"The key lesson today is the absolute necessity of air superiority to achieve decisive military advantage," says General Deptula of the report he co-authored.

This would give Ukrainian forces protection from enemy attacks, as well as the freedom to attack themselves.

"A largely ground-based approach has resulted in a brutal struggle of attrition, one in which Russia has the numerical advantage," says the Mitchell Institute for Aerospace Studies, which brought the prominent American generals together for the July 2 talk.
