Zelenskyy wants Trump to show his plan for "a quick end to the war"

Jul 3, 2024

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Donald Trump should immediately present his plan for a quick end to the war with Russia if he has one.

Zelensky said this in an interview with Bloomberg Television in Kyiv on Wednesday.

The head of state warned that any peace proposal should avoid violating Ukraine's sovereignty.

"If Trump knows how to end this war, he must tell us about it today... If there are risks to Ukrainian independence, if we lose our statehood, we want to be prepared for this, we want to know," the Ukrainian president said.

Zelenskiy complained about delays in arms deliveries from Western allies and said he was "potentially ready" to meet with Trump to listen to his team's proposals.

"They cannot plan my life, the lives of our people, and our children. We want to understand whether we will have strong US support in November or whether we will be completely alone," the head of state added.

Zelenskyy rejected the idea that Ukrainian and Russian troops had reached a deadlock on the battlefield. He noted that the Ukrainian military is in a better position in terms of manpower than it was a few months ago, and the new offensive is a matter of arming their brigades.

And while Zelenskiy praised the $61 billion aid package approved by the US Congress this year after a six-month delay, he said military equipment was taking too long to reach the front.
