Vladimir Putin has long wanted to invade Ukraine. This did not happen earlier, allegedly because of Donald Trump's position.

This was stated by Republican candidate Donald Trump, RBC-Ukraine reports citing The Telegraph.

Speaking at an event in the city hall of Oaks, in eastern Pennsylvania, the former president reaffirmed his relationship with Putin and said that the invasion of Ukraine would never have happened under his watch.

“I get along great with Putin,” he told his supporters, many of whom wore hats with the slogan ”Make America Great Again.”

Commenting on Putin's decision to invade, he said: “It was like the apple of his eye, he talked about it, but I said: “You're not coming in.”

Trump said that he also had a good relationship with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and said that he would end the war in Eastern Europe before he was elected president.

“Biden has done nothing for this - he hasn't even spoken to Putin in over a year,” he said. - “This is a war that has to end, and I'm going to end this war... I'm going to try to end this war as president-elect.”
-
He continued: “I want people to stop dying, that's all.”
