For Serbia, the BRICS is an alternative to the European Union. Moreover, the country will send a representative to the summit in Kazan.
This was stated by Serbian Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vulin, RBC-Ukraine reports, citing his interview with the German edition of the Berliner Zeitung.
According to him, if the BRICS organization has become attractive to other countries, Serbia should also pay attention to it. In addition, he confirmed that the country will participate in the BRICS summit, which will be held in Kazan from October 22 to 24, by sending a representative.
“It would be irresponsible if we did not explore all options, including membership in BRICS. If BRICS is attractive to other countries, such as the Emirates, Saudi Arabia or Turkey, why should Serbia be different? So there is no doubt that BRICS has become a real alternative to the EU,” Vulin said.
At the same time, the official admitted that he himself is a Eurosceptic, but that the majority of the Serbian population aspires to EU membership.
