Rutte: new NATO HQ will be important for the Armed Forces of Ukraine

The new NATO headquarters in Germany will be important for Ukrainian soldiers on the battlefield. In particular, it will coordinate military assistance to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

This was stated by NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, RBC-Ukraine reports citing the NATO press service.

Today, on October 15, Rutte visited the headquarters of the NATO Security Assistance and Training Command for Ukraine (NSATU) in Wiesbaden, Germany, for the first time. There he met with German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius.

The Secretary General spoke to the military personnel working at the headquarters and emphasized the importance of their work, which is preparing the ground for 700 people to be deployed in Wiesbaden and at logistics hubs on the eastern flank of the Alliance.

“He said that the new command will make a real difference to Ukraine on the battlefield and “for our own security,” the NATO press service quoted Rutte as saying.

It is planned that NSATU will coordinate the provision of equipment to Ukraine from NATO allies, as well as the training of Ukrainian defenders. In particular, it will coordinate the supply of artillery, ammunition, and air defense systems.
