Iran suspends indirect talks with the United States

Oct 15, 2024

Iran has suspended indirect talks with the United States of America (USA) in Oman. This is due to tensions over Israel's possible retaliation for the recent massive shelling.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, quoted by The Times of Israel.

According to the publication, the Sultanate, which is located on the eastern edge of the Arabian Peninsula, has long been an interlocutor between Iran and the United States, including in secret negotiations that eventually led to the nuclear deal in 2015.

“The Maskat process is currently on hold due to the special situation in the region. We do not see any grounds for negotiations until we overcome the current crisis,” the minister said during his visit to Muscat.
