This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to AP.

The failed launch came hours after the leaders of South Korea, China, and Japan met in Seoul for their first trilateral meeting in more than four years.

The agency notes that it is very unusual for North Korea to take provocative actions when China, its main ally, is engaged in high-level diplomacy in the region.

North Korea's official Korean Central News Agency reported that the spy satellite was launched aboard a new rocket, but it exploded shortly after launch due to a possible engine problem.

A preliminary examination showed that the explosion was related to the reliability of the newly developed liquid oxygen-oil engine.
