This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the press service of the International Committee of the Red Cross.

"The removal is the result of the Belarusian Red Cross's failure to comply with the requirement to remove Mr. Dzmitry Shevtsov, the secretary general of the National Society, from office," the Red Cross said.

The demand for his removal was made after Shevtsov made a number of scandalous statements about nuclear weapons, the deportation of children from Ukraine to Belarus, and trips to the temporarily occupied Donetsk and Luhansk.

According to the Red Cross, the suspension means that the Belarusian Red Cross loses its rights as a member of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies. Also, any funding for the Belarusian Red Cross will be terminated.

The Belarusian Red Cross will not be able to participate in the General Assembly of the International Federation of Red Cross Societies and vote or be elected at any statutory meetings.

At the same time, the Belarusian Red Cross may be reinstated after it fulfills the requirements of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
