The decision to liberate Crimea should be made by Ukrainian President Zelensky as head of state. However, he should take into account the will of Ukrainians in this matter.
This was stated by US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, Tagesschau reports.
"Ukraine is a democratic country. President Volodymyr Zelensky is responsible for leading the country ... But he should also be open to the will of the Ukrainians," Blinken said.
He added that the U.S., with many other countries, has pledged to help Ukraine and to protect its sovereignty and independence.
"This includes a counteroffensive that will probably begin in the coming weeks," the U.S. secretary of state stressed.-
Blinken also noted that the U.S. will continue to provide not only military assistance but also support in developing Ukraine's medium- and long-term capabilities.
