Blinken reacts to attack on humanitarian workers in Gaza
US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has commented on the information about an air strike on World Central Kitchen (WCK) staff in central Gaza, which killed seven people.
Blinken's statement was quoted by Reuters.
The Secretary of State noted that the United States calls on Israel to investigate the circumstances of the air strike.
"We spoke directly with the Israeli government about this particular incident. We called for a prompt, thorough, and impartial investigation," he said during a press conference in Paris.
Blinken stressed that humanitarian workers must be protected.
"These people are heroes, they run into the fire, not away from it. We must not allow a situation where people who are simply trying to help their neighbours are themselves in grave danger," he added.
