CIA director comes to Kyiv last week

Jan 20, 2023

The head of the US Central Intelligence Agency Bill Burns came to Kyiv last week to tell Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy what actions the US foresees for Russia in the spring based on its data.

The Washington Post was the first to report this, followed by CNN and other U.S. media outlets.

"Director Burns traveled to Kyiv, where he met with Ukrainian intelligence colleagues and President Zelenskyy and reinforced our continued support for Ukraine as it defends itself against Russian aggression," an unnamed U.S. official told reporters in a commentary.

This is Burns' first visit to Kyiv in 2023 and his third since the start of the full-scale war, at least of those that have come to light - the head of U.S. intelligence went to Kyiv in October and November. One of his visits fell on the day of another massive Russian missile attack on Ukraine.
