Apr 10, 2024

In March, Estonia recorded a record number of cyberattacks on public sector websites in the Baltic country.

It is reported by Postimees.

In the first month of spring, the Incident Response Unit of the State Information System Department (RIA) recorded 522 serious cyber incidents. This is the highest figure in the last few years.

Most often, hackers use phishing pages, which are primarily designed to steal bank card details, logins, and passwords.

"In March, fraud increased significantly. The number of malicious redirects also increased, when hackers took over a company or institution's website and instead redirected its users, for example, to a phishing page," the RIA stated.

Unfixed security issues make websites vulnerable to cyberattacks, the RIA noted.
