EU calls on China to deal with companies that help RF avoid sanctions

The head of the European Council, Charles Michel, called on Chinese leader Xi Jinping to immediately deal with companies involved in the supply of dual-use goods to Russia and helping to circumvent international sanctions.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Politico.

Brussels handed over a list of such Chinese firms to Beijing. It includes "about 13" companies based in China.

"We have identified a list of companies suspected of involvement in circumventing our sanctions, and on this occasion... during the summit, we agree that it is important to go into details," Michel told reporters after talks with Xi Jinping in the Chinese capital.

The head of the European Council also expressed hope that "today we will be heard, and then China will take appropriate action."

For her part, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said she had asked Xi Jinping to "prevent any attempts by Russia to undermine the impact of sanctions."
