EU imposes sanctions on Medvedchuk and Marchevsky

May 27, 2024

On May 27, the EU Council decided to impose sanctions against two individuals, including Viktor Medvedchuk, and one organization responsible for propaganda activities against civil society in the EU and its neighboring countries.

This was reported by the press service of the EU Council.

In particular, the EU Council imposed restrictive measures against Voice of Europe, an online media outlet that, according to the Council, is involved in a systematic international campaign of media manipulation and distortion of facts to destabilize Ukraine, the EU, and its member states.

In addition, Voice of Europe was used as a means of channeling financial resources to pay propagandists and to create a network of influence on representatives of political parties in Europe.

The approved sanctions list also includes two individuals closely associated with Voice of Europe.
