This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Yle.

"Finland is negotiating a new defense cooperation agreement with the United States. The agreement will be unique: Finland will allow the presence of foreign military on its territory for a period longer than the usual military exercises," the article says.

If the agreement is concluded, the US military will have access to certain facilities in Finland to use them for training, weapons storage, equipment maintenance, etc.

"US troops are likely to have at least one airport and port at their disposal, as well as some kind of training area," the publication states.

At the moment, it is a temporary stay of the US military, but "time periods may follow each other".

It is worth noting that in July it became known that Finland is modernizing the railroad and other transport infrastructure on the border with Sweden, which will facilitate the deployment of NATO troops to the border with Russia.
