Representatives of the G7 countries met with partners on Tuesday to discuss further support for Ukraine's energy sector, which is suffering from Russian shelling.

The U.S. State Department said so, according to European Pravda.

The meeting, which was led by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken and Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi, discussed ongoing efforts to accelerate the supply of energy equipment to Ukraine.

"The G7 pledged to continue close coordination to provide equipment and humanitarian aid this winter, procure needed infrastructure and support Ukraine's long-term vision to modernize and decarbonize its energy system and integrate with the European system," the statement said.

It added that Blinken separately noted the firm commitment of the United States to support Ukraine for as long as necessary.
