Germany to announce decision on tank deliveries next week
The German federal government may announce a decision next week on deliveries of Western tanks to Ukraine.
This was reported by Bloomberg citing two sources.
According to the sources, Germany is likely to decide to provide heavy tanks to Ukraine, as calls for Berlin to provide heavy tanks are becoming more and more frequent.
Berlin is expected to make a decision before the Ukraine Defense Contact Group meeting at the U.S. Ramstein Air Base on Jan. 20. At the meeting, German Defense Minister Christine Lambrecht will send a clear signal regarding the supply of Leopard 2s, a Bloomberg source said.
As of Thursday, Berlin had not yet made a concrete decision, but pressure on Germany to send the heavy tanks is growing, according to another source.
