May 18, 2024

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Rustem Umerov in an interview with CNN.

"Weapons are arriving late, and the Russians are taking advantage of this. The delivery was delayed for six months. That is why they have expanded the frontline to prevent us from using these weapons," the minister said.

Umerov emphasized that despite the delays in the supply of weapons, the Ukrainian Defense Forces are holding their positions and repelling attacks.

"We are also trying to evacuate civilians from the border towns that they (Russians - ed.) are shelling. So, we are holding our ground," the Defense Minister added.

The minister emphasized that Ukraine needs more air defense systems, artillery, armored personnel carriers, armored personnel carriers and ammunition. When asked whether American aid was reaching the front line, Umerov said yes. But he added that the problem is delays in the delivery of weapons.
