Cabinet of Ministers has allocated 1.5 billion for the renewal of TPPs

At a government meeting on May 17, a decision was made to allocate funds for restoration work at Trypillia TPP in the Kyiv region and Zmiiv TPP in the Kharkiv region. The amount is more than UAH 1.5 billion, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

“UAH 726 million was allocated for the state-owned company Centrenergo from the reserve fund of the state budget, and another UAH 826 million was allocated from the fund for liquidation of the consequences of aggression,” the statement said.

The government expects the fastest possible pace of restoration of both power generating companies.

As a reminder, Zmiivska TPP, the largest power plant in the Kharkiv region and one of the largest in Ukraine, was completely destroyed by Russians on March 22, 2024. Trypillia TPP on the shores of the Kaniv Reservoir supplied electricity to three regions - Kyiv, Cherkasy, and Zhytomyr. The occupiers destroyed the plant on April 11 this year by firing X-69 missiles at it. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy explained that the facility was destroyed because the Ukrainian air defense system had run out of missiles to protect it.
