Greece wants to have a fleet of 200 modern fighter jets by 2030

Greek Minister of National Defence Nikos Dendias spoke about plans to modernize the structure of the Armed Forces, as well as about the intention to upgrade the fighter jet fleet.

Presenting the plan for the modernization of the Greek Armed Forces, the Minister emphasized the purchase of fighter jets, the strengthening of the navy, and the role of the domestic defense industry in autonomous systems and missile defense.

"Our goal is for the Greek Air Force to have 200 modern 4th, 5th, and 6th generation aircraft in service by 2030, gradually phasing out 3rd and 4th generation aircraft," Dendias said.

He announced plans to acquire two or more full squadrons by the end of the decade, including F-16 Viper, Rafale, and F-35 aircraft.
