Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat told Channel 24 that the Ukrainian defenders of the sky have more tools to destroy Russian aircraft.

Ukrainian Air Force Commander Mykola Oleshchuk confirmed the downing of another Russian Su-34 fighter jet. A Russian Su-35 was also in the crosshairs, but the pilot maneuvered out of the potentially targeted area unharmed.

The Ukrainian Air Force cannot disclose further details of the downing for security reasons.

The Su-34 is a two-seat aircraft. There is no information about the pilots yet, but we hope that the pilot is the same as last time. As the saying goes, "he fell face down". This is good news for us because the pilot is no less valuable a target than the aircraft itself,

- Yuriy Ihnat emphasized.

If the destruction of aircraft is a loss of money for Russia, then the destruction of pilots also means precious time and resources spent on training and education of pilots.

"The enemy has seriously intensified its activities in the Eastern sector, particularly in Avdiivka. The Air Force has more means and tools to reach the enemy at long-range retreats, which has improved our ability to shoot down Russian aircraft," Ihnat explained.

Russian commanders and pilots are aware of the risks of approaching the contact line, so they carefully plan their operations and launch guided missiles and bombs. It is worth reminding that during the fiercest fighting before the capture of Avdiivka, the occupiers flew closer and dropped hundreds of UAVs on Ukrainian positions. However, they eventually paid for it.
