In almost 1000 days of war, Putin has not reached any strategic goals

Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin has not achieved any of his strategic goals in the war in Ukraine. And this is despite almost 1000 days of fighting.

This opinion was expressed by U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Foreign Affairs.

“After almost 1000 days of war, Putin has not achieved any of his strategic goals. President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy did not escape. Kyiv has not fallen. And Ukraine has not surrendered,” he states.

Instead, according to the Pentagon chief, Russia has paid a “staggering price for Putin's imperial stupidity.”

“Hundreds of thousands of Russian casualties since February 2022 and more than $200 billion wasted,” the head of the defense department said.

He cited data from the Center for Strategic and International Studies, according to which Russia's losses in the first year of the war alone exceeded Moscow's losses in all its conflicts since World War II combined.

“Ukraine has suffered terribly at the hands of Putin. But, as I saw again in Kyiv last week, Ukraine is standing firm - and has even grown stronger,” the minister said.
