In November, the UN Security Council will hold a meeting dedicated to the 1000th day of Russia's war against Ukraine. It was announced by the United Kingdom, which holds the presidency of the Council this month.

Barbara Woodward, the UK's permanent representative to the UN, said this at a press conference in New York.

The meeting will take place in the afternoon of November 18. It will be chaired by British Foreign Secretary David Lammy.

Woodward presented the Security Council's schedule for November and noted that the priority will be issues related to “the three largest conflicts in the world”: the consequences and risks of war in the Middle East, Russia's violation of Ukraine's territorial integrity and sovereignty, and the conflict in Sudan.

According to the diplomat, Britain will use its presidency of the UN Security Council “to expose Russian disinformation and their crimes.”

Woodward also said that the Russian delegation had blocked the approval of the Security Council's schedule for November precisely because of the planned consideration of the Ukrainian issue. However, she noted that this would not prevent the Council from holding a meeting outside the schedule at the request of member states.
