Kuleba: we are at the final stage in the issue of receiving Leopard 2

Jan 23, 2023

Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba believes that Ukraine is "half a step away" from receiving German Leopard 2 tanks, the transfer of which was one of Kyiv's main demands in the context of military assistance.

Kuleba said this on the air of a telethon on Monday, reports European Pravda.

"In the issue of tanks, we have the last half step left to take. We have already received British Challenger tanks, which we were once told that it was impossible. We are already getting French tanks - the light ones so far. We hear that France is considering giving us Leclerc tanks. And I have no doubt that Leopard will come to us; we are in the final stage," says the head of the Foreign Ministry.

He expressed confidence that Berlin will change its position regarding the provision of tanks to Ukraine because there have been similar discussions about other types of armament before.

"At first they (Germany) categorically refused to provide weapons at all, then we chewed out the howitzers from them, then we chewed out the air defense systems, chewed out the Marder. Well, that's the kind of country. There are specifics. We have to take it into account. But in the end, we always got the necessary result, and this time we will get it, too," the minister added.
