Latvia demands the Russian ambassador to leave the country

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country, explaining the decision to reduce diplomatic relations with Russia, writes European truth.

"The Russian ambassador must leave Latvia by February 24, 2023. Also, the ambassador of the Republic of Latvia in Russia is leaving Russia until February 24," the ministry said in a statement.

Earlier on Monday, the Russian ambassador was notified of the decision of the Latvian side to reduce the level of its diplomatic mission in Russia to the Chargé d'Affaires ad interim from February 24.

The Foreign Ministry added that the decision was taken in view of the fact that Russia continues its full-scale military aggression against Ukraine launched on February 24, 2022, as well as in solidarity with Estonia and Lithuania.

Russia has decided to reduce the level of diplomatic relations with Estonia to temporary chargé d'affaires, in connection with which Estonian ambassador to Russia Margus Laidri is ordered to leave Russia by February 7, 2023.
