"During the summit, the allies will adopt a multi-year assistance package that will bring Ukraine in line with NATO standards," he said.

According to Stoltenberg, thanks to this assistance, the Ukrainian military "must make the transition from an army based on the old Soviet model to a modern military force that works according to NATO standards".

He also mentioned the advancement of Ukrainian forces on the frontline in this context.

"We see Ukraine gaining ground again after several months of training and equipping its army. But the terrain is difficult, and the Russian army has created strong defensive positions, including minefields and anti-tank barriers. It is not easy for Ukrainians to move forward, which is why support is so important," he stated.
