The Chairman of the NATO Military Committee, Dutch Admiral Rob Bauer, has called for increased private investment in the defense companies of the Alliance that produce ammunition.

RBC-Ukraine reported this with reference to Voice of America.

He noted that the world is witnessing a sharp rise in prices for military equipment and ammunition. This leads to the fact that NATO receives the same capabilities for more money.

"This means that we cannot be sure that increased defense spending will really lead to an increase in security," he said.

That is why NATO insists on increasing defense production, which should cover both the interests of the Allies and the request for assistance from Ukraine, as Kyiv uses an average of 10,000 shells daily.

Bauer called for increased private investment in the defense sector to increase production capacity and urged pension funds and banks to stop calling investments in the defense sector unethical.

"Long-term stability should prevail over short-term profits. As we can see from Ukraine's example, war is an event that affects the entire society," the admiral said.

In addition, he called on the heads of military enterprises to accelerate the increase in production capacity.
