Navy explains whether it is possible to protect Odesa from mines

In Odesa, after a set of works, it is possible to protect the beaches from mines thrown ashore or into the surf zone.
This was announced during a briefing at the Ukraine-Odesa media center by Dmytro Pletenchuk, a spokesman for the Ukrainian Navy, UNIAN reports.
"Technically, it is possible. Firstly, it is necessary to trawl the water area of a particular beach - it is not so big and it is quite possible. There are also relevant specialists, in particular, a mobile demining group. It has already carried out more than a hundred demining operations - these are mines that have been thrown ashore or into the surf zone. Accordingly, it is possible to work on these beaches," said Pletenchuk.
He added that after trawling, it is necessary to set up appropriate boom barriers with nets to prevent dangerous objects from entering a certain part of the coastal zone.
