Occupants can leave part of Ukraine's territories on their own

Apr 13, 2023

During the upcoming counteroffensive, the Ukrainian army may use the same tactics as during the liberation of the right bank of the Kherson region. The enemy can be forced to voluntarily leave part of the occupied territories, to make another "gesture of goodwill."

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine can take advantage of the US information leak to confuse the enemy. This opinion was expressed in an exclusive interview with OBOZREVATEL by the former Deputy Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Lieutenant General Ihor Romanenko.

"I do not rule out that the General Staff will pretend to continue preparations according to the plan that was made public, but in fact implement another plan," he said.

According to the general, after a large-scale leak of classified military information, Russian intelligence is probably double-checking all the data, trying to understand where the real plan of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine is and where the "legend" is, a false trail.

In this context, Romanenko pointed out that some time has already passed since the information leaked, and it may take another month before the Ukrainian army launches a counteroffensive. "A lot can change, so if you act skillfully, you can use the situation," he said.

At the same time, the general emphasized that regardless of which direction is chosen for the main attack, "we need to hit the enemy's logistics" - destroy its warehouses and delivery routes.

"This is similar to what we did in the Kherson sector against the enemy grouping on the right bank of the Dnipro. Back then, we were advancing, took the first line of defense and encountered very serious resistance from the enemy. We stopped there, gained a foothold, and began to intensively process them. And we achieved the result - they were forced to withdraw," Romanenko recalled.

According to him, to repeat the same scenario, "we need a large amount of ammunition and striking means in general, including strikes by airplanes, helicopters, unmanned aerial vehicles, sabotage, etc."
