Jul 20, 2023

Currently, Poland has handed over 10 MiG-29s to Ukraine, but it is possible that Ukraine will receive the rest of the aircraft in service with Poland.

This was stated by Ukraine's Ambassador to Poland Vasyl Zvarych, Ukrinform reports.

"So far, 10 MiG-29s have been handed over, but it is possible that Poland will hand over the rest – about 20 aircraft of this type, which they still have in service," the ambassador said.

According to Zvarych, this will most likely happen after Poland starts receiving aircraft from Western countries.

"This process has already begun (Poland received the first FA-50 fighters from South Korea - ed.) Poland is now among 11 countries that have declared their readiness to start training Ukrainian pilots on F-16s," the ambassador explained.

Poland has at least 22 multipurpose Soviet MiG-29 fighters in its Air Force.

In May, Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said that Poland had handed over 10 MiG-29s to Ukraine.
