Russia creates a new line of defense in Donbas

Feb 11, 2024

A train of 2100 freight cars, thirty kilometers long, was deployed by the Russian occupiers on the railroad between the occupied village of Olenivka and the town of Volnovakha (south of Donetsk). This is the near rear of the interventionists in the neighboring Maryinka and Vuhledar directions.

This was reported by DeepState, a reputable domestic compiler of frontline maps and military expert, on his Telegram channel, indicating that the invaders began to build this structure in July 2023.

It seems that the enemy was expecting a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area of the front, as DeepState considers the structure to be a separate line of defense. However, he points out that it is difficult to assess its effectiveness.

The primary source of information is publicly available satellite imagery from the United States. The enemy used unnecessary Ukrainian railroad cars stolen back in 2014.

In general, we must admit that after the liberation of Kherson and a third of the Kharkiv region, the occupiers took the creation of defensive engineering structures very seriously and on a large scale. Unfortunately, according to numerous sources, Ukraine still cannot afford this practice.
