US develops Bolt FPV drone with machine vision: what makes it unique

The American company Anduril has developed a new drone called Bolt. It is in the class of short-range kamikaze drones.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Defense Express.

The new drone can actually operate without an operator thanks to a built-in artificial intelligence program. That is, the operator only gives the command “destroy” and indicates the course of attack. The drone itself can detect and automatically track objects.

The developers also pointed out that the drone can operate without access to satellite navigation. In this case, the operator can specify the course, altitude, and distance the drone should keep from the object it is tracking.

After receiving the commands, the drone acts autonomously and does not depend on the presence of communication with the operator, it ignores the EW.

Drone characteristics

According to the developers, the drone's warhead, which weighs up to 1.5 kg, can also be cumulative, which is necessary to destroy heavily armored vehicles.

The Bolt drone is quite large in size, with a flight time of up to 40 minutes and a range of more than 20 km. It is equipped with a powerful set of sensors from an optical and thermal imaging camera, and possibly a laser rangefinder.
