Orban accuses EU Commissioner of intending to overthrow his government

Oct 13, 2024

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that the debate in the European Parliament was an “attempted crucifixion” by the European Union. He believes that European politicians have already decided who they want to replace him.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Politico.

“Those who came to the debate wanted our blood and did not want a meaningful debate at all, but imagined a political flogging and attacked us,” Orban said.

As a reminder, the other day, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen harshly criticized Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban for his pro-Russian stance. She accused him of a historic failure to support Ukraine.

“Von der Leyen and the leader of the European People's Party, Manfred Weber, have openly declared their intention to overthrow the Hungarian government,” Orban said in response.

According to him, they want to delegate MEP Klara Dobrev or opposition leader Peter Magyar, a member of the ruling Fidesz party, as his replacement.
