Ukrainian journalist Viktoria Roshchyna, who was taken prisoner by the Russian occupiers, has died. She was planned to be exchanged.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine, citing a statement by Petro Yatsenko, a representative of the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War, during a telethon and an exclusive comment by Andriy Yusov, a representative of the GUR.
“We have conducted an internal investigation and, unfortunately, this information has been confirmed (referring to Roshchyna's death - ed.),” Yatsenko said.
He clarified that Ukraine was working to free the journalist from Russian captivity. In the course of this process, the woman was transferred from Taganrog to Moscow.
In turn, a representative of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Andriy Yusov, told RBC-Ukraine that Roshchyna was on the exchange list.
“Everything was done to return her. Moreover, preliminary agreements were reached. Victoria was supposed to return home in the near future,” Yusov emphasized.-
According to him, the last thing that was known about the journalist was that she was being transferred to prepare her return to Ukraine. All other information is being checked and clarified.
