Germany and three allies are preparing a €1.4 bln arms package for Ukraine

Germany, together with three other NATO countries, is preparing a large package of military aid for Ukraine worth 1.4 billion euros, which is planned to be provided by the end of 2024.

According to Yevropeiska Pravda, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made the announcement before talks with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in Berlin.

The chancellor reminded that Germany is the second largest provider of military assistance to Ukraine and is actively helping to strengthen air defense.

“By the end of the year, with the support of our partners - Belgium, Denmark, Norway - we will deliver another package worth 1.4 billion euros to Ukraine. It also includes air defense systems - IRIS-T, Skynex, Cheetahs, howitzers, self-propelled artillery systems, armored vehicles, combat drones, radar, ammunition,” Scholz said.

He added that Germany has budgeted 4 billion euros for direct bilateral assistance for the next year.

In addition, Scholz reminded that the G7 countries and the European Union are preparing a multi-year loan for Ukraine worth $50 billion, which will be repaid from the proceeds of frozen Russian assets. The chancellor expressed confidence that Ukraine could count on it.
