US President Joe Biden wants to make up for his visit to Germany next week. The previously planned trip to Berlin was canceled due to Hurricane Milton.
This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to Spiegel.
According to the publication, planning for a high-level visit to Berlin is already underway behind the scenes of the federal government and German security agencies. In the current calendar, official meetings with German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Chancellor Olaf Scholz are scheduled for Friday, October 18.
“Biden's Berlin visit is a kind of farewell visit of the president before the upcoming elections in early November. Initially planned as an official state visit with an official banquet and other honorable events, the program has now been significantly reduced,” Spiegel writes.
Nevertheless, it is still planned that Biden will be awarded by Steinmeier with a special degree of the Grand Cross of the Federal Order of Merit for services to German-American friendship.
