Shmyhal met with the Pope at Vatican and invited him to visit Ukraine

Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmygal met with the Pope at the Vatican. He invited the pontiff to Ukraine.

This is reported with reference to the head of the government in Telegram.

Shmyhal handed Pope Francis a photo album dedicated to Russian crimes in Bucha, Borodyanka and other cities of Ukraine. The Prime Minister also expressed the hope that the Vatican will join the implementation of the Ukrainian peace formula, in particular the process of return of prisoners and deportees.

Prime Minister thanked the pontiff for humanitarian assistance, treatment of Ukrainian children affected by Russian aggression in the Vatican hospital. Also, Denys Shmyhal invited the Pope to Ukraine.

"We will be glad to welcome the pontiff in these difficult times. We expect that the Holy See will use its influence to return peace to all our lands," he stressed.

As a reminder, yesterday Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal arrived in Italy, where he took part in a conference on the reconstruction of Ukraine, and also held a number of meetings.
