Spain will provide Ukraine with 1 billion in military aid this year

Spain will provide Ukraine with €5 billion in military aid. This was announced by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy on Monday, May 27, following talks with Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

He noted that Ukraine would receive €1 billion in 2024 and €5 billion over three years.

On May 27, Zelenskyy arrives in the Spanish capital of Madrid to sign a bilateral security agreement and hold talks with Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez.

Zelenskyy noted that the security agreement covers cooperation in humanitarian aid, economic recovery and reconstruction of Ukraine, support for Ukraine's reforms on the path to EU and NATO membership and the Peace Formula, and strengthening of sanctions against Russia.

In addition, the security agreement states that since the beginning of the full-scale war, Spain has provided Ukraine with several military assistance packages.

Spain has also made a significant contribution to EU funding through the European Peace Fund, which has allocated 11.1 billion euros to Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion.

The President of Ukraine added that he also discussed with Sanchez the strengthening of Ukraine's air defense and how Spain can help.
