Sweden doesn’t rule out possibility of a Russian attack on the country

Despite the fact that Russia is stuck in the war with Ukraine, the possibility of a Russian military attack on Sweden cannot be ruled out.

This is stated in the report of the Defense Committee of the Swedish Parliament, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to the Swedish broadcaster SVT.

According to the media, the Swedish parliamentary report, which is to be published on Monday, June 19, says that although Russian ground troops are in Ukraine, other types of military attacks by Russia against Sweden cannot be ruled out.

"Russia's ability to conduct operations using air power, naval forces, long-range weapons or nuclear weapons against Sweden remains high," the report says.

It is noted that the report also outlines a new defense doctrine for Sweden based on NATO membership. It is worth noting that the previous doctrine was based on cooperation with neighboring countries and the EU.

As a reminder, Sweden applied to join the North Atlantic Alliance after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Turkey and Hungary have not yet ratified the Swedish application.
