Switzerland has allocated an additional $6 million to repair and reconstruct about 30 schools in Ukraine. This should provide access to education for nearly 15,000 students.

This was reported by RBC-Ukraine with reference to the website of the Swiss Federal Council.

"Russian military aggression has dealt a severe blow to Ukraine's education sector. Thousands of schools across the country have been damaged or destroyed, and many teachers have fled the conflict zones, thereby disrupting the education of millions of students," the statement said.

It is noted that this aid will be used to restore about 30 schools in the regions directly affected by the fighting. These are Chernihiv, Odesa and Poltava.

The project involves the installation of safe, multi-purpose classrooms to ensure continuous learning even during air raids.

Rehabilitating and modernizing schools in the cities will provide students with a safe and appropriate environment for face-to-face classroom learning.

This initiative will not only strengthen local public services, but also enhance the resilience of the education system in crisis situations. The continuation of full-time education will also facilitate the integration of displaced children and their families into host communities.

The Swiss Federal Council noted that the assistance to Ukrainian schools is part of an overall aid plan that amounts to almost $156 million.
