The Minister for EU Affairs and Constitutional Affairs in the Austrian government, Caroline Edtstadler, confirmed that Russian President Vladimir Putin will be arrested if he visits the country.

She said this in an interview with Tagesspiegel.

According to Edtstadler, the announcement and issuance of an international arrest warrant by the International Criminal Court mean that if Putin were to set foot on Austrian soil, he would have to be arrested.

"Austria will fulfill its obligations under international and criminal law," she added.
