The White House confirms US participation in the Global Peace Summit

The White House has confirmed that the United States will participate in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland initiated by Ukraine, but did not say whether President Joe Biden will attend the event.

This was stated by White House spokesperson Karin Jean-Pierre at a briefing.

“We have been actively involved in each of the previous Ukrainian peace summits. The U.S. government is involved in this. And we will be represented in this upcoming summit,” she said.
Asked whether U.S. President Joe Biden would attend the summit, she said she “has no more specific information to share.”

“It's important for us to continue to make sure that Ukraine has all the capabilities it needs to defend itself and to ensure a just and lasting peace,” she added.

Earlier, Bloomberg cited sources as saying that U.S. President Joe Biden is likely to skip next month's Global Peace Summit due to a planned campaign fundraiser in California that he is scheduled to attend with George Clooney, Julia Roberts and other stars.
