Ukraine's future in NATO, but there is a condition - Pentagon

The United States believes that Ukraine's future lies in NATO. However, there is a condition - all 32 members of the North Atlantic Alliance must make the appropriate decision.

This was stated by US Defense Department spokesman General Patrick Ryder, RBC-Ukraine reports citing Ukrinform.

"This is a decision of the NATO alliance, 32 countries. But, of course, what we are doing now - and you have heard previous statements - is creating a "bridge" for Ukraine's accession to NATO," he said when asked whether Ukraine should become a member of the Alliance.

Ryder emphasized that an important aspect of supporting Ukraine is to work together to improve the military capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces and achieve interoperability so that Ukraine is ready for NATO membership.

When asked about the US readiness to support Ukraine's accession to NATO at the Washington summit, Ryder said that he did not want to get ahead of himself. However, America clearly sees Ukraine in the Alliance.

"We have made it clear that we see Ukraine's future in NATO," the general emphasized.
