US concerned about military cooperation between Russia and DPRK

Nov 21, 2023

The United States expresses concern about military cooperation between Russia and North Korea.

This was stated by U.S. State Department spokesman Matthew Miller, RBC-Ukraine reports citing his video briefing.

"I will say that our concerns about North Korea's ballistic missile program and other military programs are well known, our concerns about technology transfers between Russia and North Korea - whether it's Russia providing North Korea with technology or North Korea providing weapons to Russia - are also well known," Miller said.

According to him, these arms transfers in some cases violate numerous UN Security Council resolutions, including resolutions that Russia itself voted for.

"We will continue to closely monitor them (Russia and the DPRK - ed.) and take all necessary actions with our allies in the region to monitor and respond to the DPRK's destabilizing behavior," he added.

The State Department spokesman also emphasized that the US position is very clear: Russia should not supply North Korea with technologies that would violate UN Security Council resolutions, and North Korea should not supply Russia with weapons that it could use to wage war against Ukraine.
